@baron8107 Yea, Tales Of The Troika and Roadside Picnic have similarities, but I think is influenced mostly by Roadside Picnic, and the Stalker movie which are both the same in how they describe The Zone. The movie was based on Roadside Picnic anyways.

I heard it came from a novel called "Tales Of The Troika" or something like that. Especially throwing bolts to reveal anomalies. Or was it "Roadside Picnic" I'm not even sure that's anywhere near close.
-
@baron8107 I know that, but just imagine, if Metro 2033 was cut from the same cloth, and Stalker still looks good now and even better with mods, what GSC came make of the Stalker series is crazy.

@baron8107 4A games woops. hmmm a partnership with bethesda, I don't know about that, sounds really sketchy, I like Fallout and the Elder Scrolls and all, but its better for GSC to rise on their own, they just need some polishing, though GSC & Stalker are well know world wide they're still small compared to the big time companies out there, they just need some time, Shadow of Chernobyl came out in 07 then CS and CoP came out 2/3 years after to me that was really fast in releasing new chapters.

You ask me, they could work with bethesda (If that's possible), but that might be a bad idea. I brought this up because they recently came out with an engine (Creation Engine) that looked and played okay on both platforms, the only glitches I saw when Skyrim first came out were somewhat benign, not very serious or damaging. Or maybe, by chance, I didn't run into any serious glitch around that time. Who knows...

It's 4A, and Metro 2033 was linear, this may be a misconception, but the engine for Metro might not work in an open-world setting.
-
@baron8107 yup, for Stalker 2 if it ever comes out... 3 games already with old X-ray and it was a pain for the developers and even impossible to release it for console, terrible encoding among other things, but like you said a new more flexible engine, it might bring the series in for the new upcoming consoles, hell, Metro 2033 used a similar engine made by other guys (A4 games) who used to work at GSC before Stalker was even released and it looked amazing, GSC think they stole X-ray :\ lol
-
Unlike most I don't care about graphics when It's open world, although the minimum would do. Then again I heard that GSC was retiring the X-ray, maybe for something with a bit more flexibility? Who knows.
-
@baron8107 Its an old engine, but is a demanding one, and porting newly released engines like they did for other games will bring a hell of a lot of problems and also down grading the graphics to make Stalker playable in other consoles specially with buggy X-ray and then getting rocks thrown at them by PC fans. I don't think GSC will be porting the Stalker series to other consoles anytime soon if they ever come back, they're already huge in PC as the small awesome company they already are lol.

I just bought all 3 installments of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. on Steam for like $11. I'm so excited.
