iPhone 3G has one speaker

UPDATE:
As many of you have so elequently pointed out, the iPhone has one speaker and one microphone. I should have realized this. Duh.

Does anyone else's iPhone do this?

When I cover the left speaker, all sound is gone. When I cover the right speaker, it's as if I've not covered anything.
