You had General Petraeus come out over the weekend and make a statement of condemnation of Terry Jones' Quran burning stunt. Now you have Senators like Harry Reid and Lindsay Graham getting into it as well. I - unlike most in the media - actually understand the difference between Muslims view of the Quran versus Christians view of the Bible. But still, it was one dude, burning pages in a book and it has sparked an international riot and killings. Yet he is the one vilified in the situation. Is Terry Jones stupid, sure. Is this just a giant publicity stunt, sure. But he isn't evil. Those killing UN workers in Afghanistan are evil. And let's not lose track of that.

  • for six months before dropping atom bombs on hiroshima & nagasaki, 67 japanese cities were intensely fire bombed; Within the first two to four months of the atomic bombings, the acute effects killed 90,000–166,000 people in Hiroshima and 60,000–80,000 in Nagasaki, with roughly half of the deaths in each city occurring on the first day ( of which 60 percent died from flash or flame burns & 30 percent from falling debris)

    what is this religion about killing innocent,non-combatant civilians;

  • @chickensandwich77 You my friend should be the voice of America. Your attitude and view point is well opposite of ignorance. How I wish more Americans had the same tone of voice :(

  • Afghan Muslims should never have known cult leader Terry Jones' name because U.S. media should never have deemed this small-town man worthy of coverage."

    That is what I ORIGNALLY wrote in a Letter To The Editor. When the Los Angeles Times published the letter, they scrub my reference to Terry Jones being pathetic as well as making some other peculiar edits. See for yourself. Visit the docstoc website and search for Letter To Los Angeles Times Reader Representative.

  • @2Timothy42 I respectfully disagree. Racial taunts have and will get people killed. Furthermore, we're not going to be decent people by being 80% bad while someone else is 90% bad and then say we're better than you because we're not 90% bad. We'll (as Americans) be respected and feared ONLY when we adhere to honorable principles 100% and stop the foolishness. Everything else is advertising via role play and it gets us nowhere (about where we are right now in Afghanistan).

  • @chickensandwich77 That's exactly the point. Saying the N-Word in front of the NAACP would be wrong and it would get a lot of people mad, but the NAACP wouldn't start killing random people in retaliation. That's the problem here. Islam is a violent religion to its core and we have all somehow now excuse it as alright as along as they are "offended." It's ridiculous.

  • If Allen Hunt does not understand that Muslims are going to negatively react when an ABSOLUTELY HOLY BOOK (how Muslims perceive the Quran) is desecrated then, with all due respect, you have received your knowledge of Islam from the wrong source or you are a complete idiot. You might begin to understand how Muslims feel about the Quran by holding up a sign that reads "The holocaust was a lie" in front of a Synagogue or yell the N word in front of the NAACP headquarters. How will people react?
