Fail to get health insurance, fail to get your tax refund. Sounds like a good way to mandate that everyone has health coverage. This isn't unlike states that mandate drivers get auto insurance before issuing a license - it helps protect everyone. But of course, the GOP is against any idea that contains the word "taxes." Mike Papantonio appears on Fox News' Bulls and Bears to tell us why this is a great plan.

  • You know, these Fox talking heads - and their parrot-like followers - love to talk about the "48 percent of Americans" who don't pay Federal taxes. The irony is, they would probably pay taxes if they were paid more. But 30 plus years of trickle down economics have kept wages of the average American worker just above stagnant while the rich continue to get richer at their expense.

  • WHERE IS THE HELL IS ALL THIS ACCOUNTABILITY THE REpubliTARDS KEEP TALKING ABOUT??????????

  • I love the way fox is so scared of the Pap, they have to (literally) put him in a corner and outnumber him five to one. Only then will they have the balls to spar with him.

    Pap is the man

  • @mikepalomino True, the "taxpayers" make 90+ percent of the money but I am still against a compulsory "tax" for health-care. I can choose not to drive a vehicle. Car insurance is an indirect form of taxation which is perfectly acceptable, property tax and this health-care tax is direct taxation which has no bearing on income or choice therefore unconstitutional. The only reason why prop tax sneaked through was by using state law to institute a tax that was unconstitutional at the federal level.

  • "Not in Virginia its not"

What, did the crackpot governor declare Virginia a sovereign state of the confederacy already?

  • I thought the story line was, "If you don't buy health insurance *they* will hunt you down and lock you in jail." Guess these repubs here are tiptoeing around that notion.

The reality is, the fines and threats of IRS fines are just that, threats. Unenforcible threats.

  • @mikepalomino Everybody pays federal taxes. It's not income taxes, it's payroll taxes. the most regressive tax system in the western world. The FUX NEWS propaganda organ will not tell you but when they talk about taxes they always overestimate the taxes of the rich, underestimate their income and underestimate the taxes paid by the poor. Always ask a right winger what's the EFFECTIVE tax rate on the rich corporate bastards, not the nominal tax rate, and how much of it is taxed as investments

  • "the most despised law by those who actually have to pay for it" ie. the slackers at Goldman Sachs who will pay 18.6% on their investment incomes above $200k as opposed to 15%. I can feel their pain, poor, poor investor class, I don't even know how can they afford the shirt on their backs!

  • Didn't the republicans campaign on "YOUR unAMERICAN IF YOU DON"T PAY TAXES" so what are these yahoo's talking about.

  • do these guys actually think their state Attorney generals can actually knock down the health care bill? if they are they are bat shit crazy. they must be aware of the supremacy clause and the commerce clause. my guess is they are playing stupid on purpose. they must realise by now they don't have enough states to repeal this fucker either. by al accounts they are on the losing side why won't they just accept it.
