In the following video I compare the ASUS Transformer Prime against another Ice Cream Sandwich Tablet... kind of. I have a modified HP Touchpad which I have recently put cyanogenmod-9-touchpad on it. Very raw, alpha version of Android 4.0 running on a non-native Android tablet. The TFP should trounce it in a series of browser, game and system tests right? Right!?

ASUS Transformer Prime Test Results:
RAM: 2264
CPU integer: 3648
CPU float-point: 2948
2D Graphics: 146
3D Graphics: 1167
Database IO: 330
SD card write: (12.9 MB/s) 129
SD card read: (23.8 MB/s) 192
CPU frequency: 1600mhz
Total Score: 10824

HP Touchpad running ICS
RAM: 992
CPU integer: 1599
CPU float-point: 602
2D Graphics: 267

  • @tightttttt Indeed, but there is hardly anything out there that is optimised for the TFP. It's like 1000hp engine car which only has one gear driving down a cobbled street in the middle of a city center.

  • "So on paper the TFP crushes the TouchPad, but as you see when testing, sometimes there's hardly a difference"

Single(companion) core vs a single core..The video clearly shows what happens once the TFP kicks in the other four(quad) cores. There is no comparison, however, I do agree with you on the refresh rate.

  • @22isevil Thanks for the comment. I have no idea why there is a screen flicker. It looks to me like a slightly slow refresh rate (remember watching old new reports and there would be a CRT screen in the background flickering like mad - it feels like that). I also noticed that the colours seem a little washed out compared to other tablet screen (i.e. the HP) but it's so subtle I only noticed it when I was doing this video. I'll certainly post a video and a fix if I find one.

  • Nice comparison! Almost got a touchpad but decided on a TF Prime because of the keyboard and Tegra 3. Just curious, do you know why the TF Prime has the screen flickering on camera? Maybe I don't have the best eyesight in the world, but I cannot see the screen flickering in person. (I have seen the screen flicker on other people's videos too)
