Harvest Moon: Magical Melody - Minigame Madness! (Part 1 of 7)

Ah, yes - HOW could I forget to record the minigames that started it all? The one short sentence on the back cover of the game box mentioning the inclusion of minigames is in fact the one reason my mom and I decided to rent this game - we wanted something multiplayer that we could do together. Of course, when the very few minigames unlocked at the beginning of the game got boring and we started the actual files, the real game overshadowed the little stuff and the minigame aspect of Magical Melody was completely forgotten.

But then ShadowedAngel727 reminded me that they still exist, and so I resolved to present a sampling of each of the minigames unlockable and playable on HM:MM! So now, you can marvel at the hidden awesomeness of Harvest Moon that you might never have thought to try out, the opportunity to watch my awesome skillz shine (Player 1), and my mom's ridiculous slowness (Player 2) in choosing the characters I tell her to. xD

You can play as any of four palette-swapped versions of the main girl or boy protagonist, or as any of the marriageable BACHELORS. (None of the bachelorettes! Kinda unfair.) I WAS going to try to pick player people that would make sense for each game - like Ray for swimming, Bob for horse racing, etc. - but ended up just going through the list of possible players in order of how the minigames came up, so as to make sure to get everyone in at least once.

Note: Since I had to have both me and my mom playing and the same time, and there was no one holding the camera, I put my camera on a DS game box on a thickly folded blanket on a table, leaning on a portable blood pressure monitor to tilt it toward the screen. xD; It was a very difficult setup to get it in line with the TV, and I won't use do that for any future videos... So please forgive the slightly crooked angle and any blurs, but enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime frame steadiness without my hand on there! =P


Here's the first game: Count Coliseum. You have to count the animals in the pen (or pond, or whatever) and enter the correct number using X's and Y's to tell to the Mayor. Sounds like a kindergarten skill, right? But MAN, is it HARD! xD; The darn animals keep crossing each other, and some of those fish - you can barely see 'em! I don't know how I won, since I think I actually tied with one of the CPUs (and we ALL pretty much sucked)... But yay, go me! xP

ya know how eventually your gonna run ot of cut scenes and other stuff? well i think a guide to getting all 50 notes is in order! lol that would make you have everything there is to have in the whole game!

...Well, that'd be a good idea, but there are actually 100 Notes, so I might die a little while trying to make that. xD; It's a possibility... but really, most of them aren't THAT confusing - only difficult if you don't know what the heck they're for - and the Menu/Completion Tutorial I have already shows the game's short summaries for each Musical Note.

Besides, I actually DO have a lot more things to film, somehow. =P

I hate this minigame in particular... animals keep moving in all directions. If you want to win, you have to count them really fast so they won't get scrambled. What I do is for imaginary groups of 3 or 4 animals, so I can count them faster. What do you do for this minigame? or you just count? XP

I always loved playing that minigames. I would beat my family and friends all the time that they wouldn't let me play it ever again.

But I could never get the fish right..They were all too hard!

You have alot of freakin money, probably becuase your on year 9. I'm on year 2 and have 71863. Way 2 go! i rack at this game, the fish are the only things that get me.
