Last May, some of the greatest Italian Women Scientists in America set out to do battle for first place in "The Premio Award, Honoring Italian Women Scientists in America"
The winner, Prof. ALESSANDRA LUCHIN, will travel to Italy to receive the award during the Premio ITWIIN 2009 , for the best Italian woman inventor and innovator on June 18th at the Circolo della Stampa at Palazzo Serbelloni in Milan, Italy.
THE PREMIO AWARD's OBJECTIVES
The Premio Award has been created this year by Bridges to Italy and ITWIIN to achieve some ambitious objectives that we hope will be reached and expanded starting with this first edition:
1) Increase the overall visibility of women scientists;
2) Expand the winner's opportunities of financing for her projects;
3) Educate Italian women innovators on TECH TRANSFER American Style.
A LITTLE BACKGROUND
The competition attracted some of our best and brightest female minds doing research in America, over 40 people joined the THE PREMIO AWARD Group set up on this site. A jury of California-based experts from the three fields included in the competition (life sciences, nanotech and cleantech) selected
the three finalists on the basis of their research's worthiness to society, business and the scientific community.
