The poorest Americans were in fact making less money (after inflation) when Reagan left office while median income remained constant through both Carter's and Reagan's presidencies. And yes, 90% of Americans were paying more of their paychecks to Washington when Reagan left office than when he came in. As your hero said, "facts are stubborn things."

Destroyed the economy? We were in a deep recession when he took over, and he had us out of it in under 2 years, with 6 years of growth after that... Unemployment was low, stocks went up, GDP went up... by what measure is that destroyed? I'd give a lot to be destroyed that way now!
