North Korean Human Rights Crisis (for Ethnic Studies 185)

My first film made for my discourse, power, & inequality class on the North Korean human rights crisis. Song credits: Lyricks (Jason & Ashamed) & Rachael Yamagata (I wish you love). Voice over: Adrian Hong, executive director of LiNK|Liberty in North Korea on CBC Radio 10/22/2006.

The film touches on just the "tip of the iceberg" of the NKHR issue & focuses more on the result (people fleeing NK) of the conflict between NK's hunger crisis, NK policies & China's denial to view these border crossers as internationally recognized NK refugees.

The Chinese Communists disagreed with Kim Il Sung about some significant theoretical points, but that didn't stop Mao from providing massive military support for his junta during the Korean war, it also hasn't stopped Hu Jintao's regime from arresting and deporting North Korean refugees, even though refugees forced to return to the north face torture and even execution.

Kim Jong Il is a mass-murderering tyrant. America has committed crimes in the war on terror but nothing in terms of scale compared to this. there is no moral equivalency between gutantanamo and yodok. prisoners in guantanamo are given three meals a day and the best healthcare modern medicine can provide, prisoners in N.Korea are starved to death and forced to work as slaves

The UN represents the entire international community, and regularly condemns America and its allies (google number of resolutions attacking Israel...) The UN is certainly not biased in favor of America, if anything the exact opposite is true. but even the UN agrees with the US on this issue

kim jong il def is smart as many defectors claim. but he is a raving madman who is like Satan himself. his father too. don't tell me that his father ruled n. korea effectively . youre either really uninformed or just plain ignorant. they both have murdered their ppl, starving, torturing, raping thema nd performing horrendous experiments on them. surgeries w/out anastesia, mass abortions, forced poison consumption, forced family rape, wiping memories to use ppl for shooting practice
