How could they encapsulate all the mind-bending stuff in a movie? The book is an epic piece of literature that needs to be read to be believed. Its scope is so vast,... it touches on everything.

@monk22yrs I understand what you're saying but what i was trying to convey was if they get the right director who would give the remake the right treatment, then this remake would be at par with The Lord of the Rings movies.

dune is awesome, enjoyed this 1984 movie, enjoyed the 2000 remake, enjoyed the children of dune sci-fi followup to the remake, and very much enjoyed the books. so don't get me wrong when i say this, because i know that its pretty damn generic, and a huge simplification of a massively complicated problem, but doesn't it seem that the most important thing in their universe is an extremely powerful drug?
