  • A bicycle rider risks its life when going to work or to school. We may be clogging the streets once a month. Cars are clogging the streets every day, they also pollute and don't allowed riders to use the streets safely. If we annoy drivers is because there are no bicycle lines and too much cars, it's definitively not our fault.

  • Critical Mass is an effort to promote alternative modes of transportation and to raise awareness about the safety issues that face commuters using non-motorized forms of transportation when sharing the streets with motor vehicles. Also, it is a demonstration to demand more bicycle lines --so we don't annoy car drivers-, but also quality public transport in order to diminish the incredible high traffic load of the city streets worldwide(continue)

  • look at the police here in this town ive seen too many fails for one town.

  • when cars and bikes mix some one ends up injured or dead. that's why there are bike paths. if you are going to promote the use of bikes, promote road safety. and use some common sence

  • @dubravko79 thats why paths off the road were invented yes cars pollute all that crap but roads were designed for cars even where there are bike lanes bikes are always riding right on the line furthest away from the gutter its a joke

  • Use your common sense, if there's no bicycle lane, but there is a shared path, then you should be using the shared path, any decent person in the police's position would have asked the riders to move onto the path, for their safety, others on the road, and to prevent any anger or inconvienience to other road users.

Any person with a decent amount of intelligence would realise this, those who don't, i guess are unfortunate enough to be lacking this basic intelligence.

  • Transport Operations (Road Use Management—Road Rules) Regulation 2009

253 Bicycle riders not to cause a traffic hazard

The rider of a bicycle must not cause a traffic hazard by

moving into the path of a driver or pedestrian.

247 Riding in a bicycle lane on a road

    (1) The rider of a bicycle riding on a length of road with a bicycle

lane designed for bicycles travelling in the same direction as

the rider must ride in the bicycle lane unless it is impracticable

    to do so.

  • @imowtflol haha yeah i'm sure.

  • @tap86 Point taken. Are you sure you are a bike rider? Your not bullshitting me are you? A bike rider that doesn't want to be an impact on traffic!

  • @imowtflol That's not what i'm trying to say at all, riding 'on' the white line gives cars plenty of room in the lane to pass. I was trying to say that cyclist want to avoid opening doors and secondly it's safer to ride on the white line & move when a car approaches from behind & it is safe to do so. I use the road to both drive a car & ride a bike and try to be as safe as possible while trying not to impact on the flow of traffic.

  • @tap86 So it is better to ride in the line of cars all the time and make every car swerve around you, hoping that every single one see you in time, rather than ride out of the traffic, preempt which parked car may open their door, and deal with the one, maybe two cars that have to yield to you.

There is no place for a bicycle to mix in the same lane as cars. Australian road rules dictate a slow moving vehicle must pull left when safe and let the traffic past, whether a caravan or a BICYCLE.

  • i would of told the cops to get fucked :) cops are getting tuffer every year i hate them cos im a p plater
