It´s more than just forgetting history... It´s the continous operation of an entirely contrafactual, quasi-religious ideology ("Americanism") on the populations minds. Afghanistan and Iraq, these are all wars wages in separate times. And all of them to both 'restore democracy' and 'fight terror' (and emotion, for Gods sake). I especially don't like the way the media and politicians say "we RESTORED Democracy" in countries that didn't even have a democracy to begin with. Are people so quick to forget history?

I don´t even think "winning" is very important... Given the way the US system is structured war seems to be an end in itself... That´s the genius of the "War against Terror" - you can´t win against a tactic - ever.
