Just a piece of cloth? That is the symbol for international freedom and the beakon of hope for millions all over the world. That flag, that symbol, is the stability and anchor for modern day society and peace in the world.

Actually modern day society extends beyond the US. World peace is not embroidered on a piece of cloth and the rest of the World doesn't look at your flag before it looks at your country, and how it negotiates 'international freedom'.
I think it's great to be proud of your country and the principles of your constitution, just don't let it cloud your judgement.
As most historians will tell you US foreign policy has mostly just tipped the global economic scales in your favour.

What was Rick monday thinking the people who were going to burn the flag where really saving it from falling to pieces under everyones "watchfull" eye in reality burning a flag at anytime after a year it was made is more patriotic then keeping it up as long as possible then and only then taking it down but not carefully or in some way removing it from soicity where it can not be dececrated.
