This is Ruth Draper, assistant organist at Third Presbyterian Church, Rochester, NY, rehearsing at St. Bartholomew's church in NYC, before the evensong the choir sang there on Sunday, July 22. She was rehearsing the "Nunc dimittis" by Herbert Murrill. It is only a snippet, as she was rehearsing, but it does show her golden shoes, which she wears on a regular basis at Third. I will have another short video of her rehearsing "Laudate Dominum" by Aaron David Miller. Enjoy!
She is comfortable with this grand instrument. I tuned it , repaired it in
the Jack Ossewarr\de days,.(sic)
She is so at ease with this grand olde
A-S . Is there any more of her playing available. She understands these large
Skinners and should have more ex-
posure. D.F. Kloss

Not enough dynamics in the Murrill in E . this is a wonderful setting of the Mag & Nunc one wonders thes days why organist's are afraid to use the full resources of large instrument. There are wonderful moments in this setting where a Tuba could have been used in places and even on the opening bars and closing bars theres no reason why a 32 Reed or Double 32 couldn't have been used. However, this is a riddiculous console ad layout.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ruth tonight as she did a sort of farewell recital at Third Pres. in Rochester as she's moving west. Very nice, very talented young woman. She blew me away when she concluded with Leo Sowerby's "Pageant", basically a pedal marathon for about 8 minutes. Impressive to hear but you've got to really see it to fully appreciate it! Whew! Good luck Ruth, you, umm, "rock"! :D

I LOVE St. Bart's so much. That organ is absolutely amazing to hear and even more so to play. I LOVE it!

Only the large cathedral organs. The console at St. Patrick's is like a train car. It's fairly intimidating.

Are all consoles in New York this huge? Just thinking that all the videos I've seen of New York organs show these massive consoles
