CONGRATS to Country Lance...I knew Leon and you are correct.

@mlebagley I am doing a retro vinyl project which will be identical to this record, a new 78 rpm EP but with only (2) songs per side; I am trying to shoot for at least 7-8 minutes a side, which I know is really pushing it; however, I did see another YouTube video of a European record pressing plant that used the Fairchild margin control which allowed the selection of the width of the groove; Fairchild was the system used by the Mercury Records labels from their inception in the 40's through 60's

@KojiRecords later 78 rpm EP like these often cut microgroove, and that and other recording factors aloud them to fit so much music on a side. note this was used by top hits (not to be confused with tops) made records just like this in this fashion.

That's not George.

George Jones did release some rockabillly music under the name Thumper Jones for his manager Harold "Pappy" Daily who was a partner in Starday. In 1955 he released his first single to chart for Starday, the wonderful "Why Baby Why " under the name George Jones. Back in those days they would record 3 songs in 3 hours, but Pappy was known for speed and liked to do 6 songs in 3 hours. Must have been just crazy.

From a technical point of view, how did they get (3) songs each side at 78 rpm? Was it that 1) all songs mono; 2) no bass or loud passages to take up extra grooves; and 3) songs ran only 1:50-2 minutes max each? Sound on this one is good, but don't know if volume is just turned up to compensate.

That's not George Jones. I don't know who, but surely not George.
I think it's Leon Payne. I can tell by the phrasing, sounds like Leon

@CountryLance I think your right. Because both Leon Payne and George Jones recorded Rockablly under the name Thumper Jones on Starday-Records.
