hate to say it but explain how you make it dude

Just FYI, I make pine needle baskets and I don't soak them or use a gauge and they look great. One thing though is I use waxed linen thread. It's easier because it's waxed and it comes in beautiful colors. Happy basket making.

i think it is a lovely first basket, BTW your first basket is known as a magic basket so do not change anything to it leave it just the way it is. I have made some with lids and give them to people as a prosperity basket, inclose a prosperity prayer and place a coin in it , A nice gift. Thanks for sharing.

yo can i use jute twine instead to thread the pine needles?

Thinking about making anymore?
I believe twine would be too thick.

@cpr58 I have some green needles in a box waiting to fry. Should be ready to use by Christmas. I'll try to make one then. Good work on finishing your first one.

I took a workshop on making cattail baskets the other day. We didn't coil with them, but used them in plain basketweave for a little tea box. You know, day lilies work well, too. How about gathering all your dead daylilies from the base of the plant, dampening them and coiling with them! They are also good for making cordage.
