p.s. in the end I decided to get one, the 5th of january I will get a mk VI with a 2.0 liter TDI engine ;)
considering my budget and what is aviable on the market, the golf is (At least on paper) the best bang for the bucks

HI!
we had a IV TDI and was a bit noisy, but the V GTI was even a more noisy, and it was not due to the engine.. it was wind and road noise..
happy to know they fixed this issue, probably going to buy a VI with the 2.0 TDI 110cv next week :=) i will then post avideo of it for sure on youtube!!

Damn blue radio screen, ruins the whole thing. WHy didnt they make it black with white letters / numbers like in skoda octavia, or like the little LCD in betwen tacho and rev-meter.

it is better suond proof than the V series??
I had a GTI MK V and the only thing I hated about that car was the insane amount of road and wind noise above 50MPH (90km/H)
I really hope that this is better...

Hi mosquiton001, I don't really know the V series nor anyone with a V so I could compare it.
We have a III, a IV and my VI and the VI's interior while driving at a speed like 90kmph is for sure much quieter than the IV.
The GTI Mk V is certainly a great machine but I guess its normal to hear the engine more than the other versions for the same serie, after all you have about 200hp underneath the hood right? :)
