6 Friends Kitesurfing from Big Bay to Robben Island on the South African West coast. 2 of them supporting on a jetski.

3 GoPro HD cameras were used to get shots from all angles.

Robben Island, close to Cape Town, is 7km off shore. Wind was 18 - 25 knots. Nelson Mandela was kept on Robben Island for the majority of his 27 years as a political prisoner.

Wind 15 - 18 knots departing, 22 - 27 knots returning
4 kite surfers
1 jetski with 2 support and all the necessary ocean going safety equipment
30mins out, 30mins on island, 20mins return (approx)

  • Shot guys and gals!! Great video. I used to windsurf at Big Bay years ago. Now happily kitesurfing in the Pacific Northwest (North America) and soon to hit the Caribbean for a 10 month sailing trip. A sometimes homesick ex-Vaalie!!!
