No cheats needed to open the gates without entering the building. Valve could have used this as a “marksman” achievement. If you look closely you can see the barrels on the deck from the little sand bar if you’re standing near the wall on the opposite side of the creek from the building where the ladder is. With a few well placed shots from your pistol you can explode the barrels and knock down the gates without entering the building (you don’t need grenades), try it next time you play the game.

@wwefanvladislav Well that, and inside the workshop itself, there are plenty of grenades, even an infinite grenade box. You could just grab some nades, go back to the gate, and throw one over.

@Smurfster1 yes you can get them without cheats before this place somewhere in beggining in route cannals you can find one granade in small tunnel with zombie without legs

@Smurfster1 Actually, in the beginning of Water Hazard you can find'em searcing in some tunnels around the walls. There are a lot of ways to get them before this point without cheating.
