My new pony Oliver. When he first started free lunging, he would just run for his life, crashing through any jumps in his way. When I would pick up the whip, he would shake uncontrollably, and it would take about 20 minutes to calm him down. Now he all too willingly comes to the center of the ring for me, stops, slows down, and speeds up without a problem, jumps 2 and a half feet, and two wide. He's just amazing. I probably won't start backing him till next spring when he's more developed physically. He's just starting to lunge with the bit, and soon will with cinch pressure. I thought I could remain fairly unattatched to this one as well, but I'm already head over heals for this little boy.
Thanks. He's really smart! I do know what splints are, and how they come about, (the horse we were boarding got a splint in her leg from starting on the track as a harness horse at 1 year old). I know I am definately not working him hard enought to get splints, but thank you for your consern! Thanks.
