if i remember right from an interview with josh homme chris goss described kyuss as the eagles of death metal.
but in the end it dosent matter because its all kickass rock n´roll no matter what you call it.

look on wikipedia. The Eagles were a 70's band pretending to be rock-band while their music is more something like pop-country. So this band is the Eagles Of Death Metal. This is how you can understand the name. The reason is that they wanted to create music, which sounds like combining the Eagles with Death Metal. Anyway, fortunatly its not DM, but "bluegrass slide guitar mixed with stripper drum beats and Canned Heat vocals" like Josh Homme described it.
