Artist Statement
The psychology of color is an essential part of color design & theory. The purpose of The Color Experience is to create an experience using color by applying a strong distribution and strategic placement of color. The project is a series of 5 pieces all with similar pattern designs, Each variation applies a purposeful 2-tone color design. All display contrasts of saturation, extension, simultaneous proportions and warm and cool colors. Each of these components allow a new character and depth. The materials (MDF board and spray paint) used to create this piece were chosen because of their cost, aesthetic as well as functional capabilities. Patterns are a abstract choice in displaying contrast, because patterns are simplistic--the viewer may attain a higher concentration on the strategy of which the color is placed.
