The House Ethics Subcommittee finds Representative Charles Rangel (D-NY) guilty on 11 counts of ethics charges brought against him. Committee Chair Representative Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) said the committee found "consensus" on the 11 charges. The committee was originally considering 13 charges against Rangel, however charges four and five were combined reducing the charges to 12. The Committee did not reach consensus on charge number three, and that one was dropped. The subcommittee will meet in closed session this afternoon to approve the language on its findings. Lofgren says she will notify the ranking member of the full ethics committee so a sanction hearing can be scheduled. Rangel will have an opportunity to address the sanction hearing. It is not known if he will appear or not.Once the Ethics Committee decides what sanctions, if any, to take against Rangel, the recommendation will be sent to the full House for a vote.Possible sanctions include censure, a fine and or denial of privileges.

Most ethical Congress EVAH!
