does feeding livestock mangrove leaves and salicornia have any bad effects like corn grain fed livestock?
-
Whats the name of the intro song?

Seems to work, but one concern is that salt will continue to concentrate in the salicornia fields due to evaporation, eventually making it too saline. Perhaps some of the salt is extracted with the vegetation, but if it is cycled through animals then where they deposit manure and die the salt will concentrate too.
Much can be done to capture rainwater and address salinity (see Greening the Desert video on YouTube). Eventually trees will increase rainfall.

This is a nation bombed to stone age, wantonly destroyed in endless wars & 50 years of the UN & the US infermented international conspiracy.
And yet, this nation keeps charting & building it's own destiny with nothing more that it's DARING WILL POWER.
Eritrea remains the living proof of human endeavour, insuring life, liberty & the pursuite of happiness, by it's own meanse ONLY!!!
Never did so much has been achieved by few people in history of mankind.
WAY TO GO ERITREA!!!

@hablerz In your part of the world I gather ;) but the same principle applies in countries like England, even though the land looks green and lush, it is inappropriate for growing crops. In fact, in England only about 5% is suitable for any crop other than grain (vegetables etc)

@rvreddy2 You can eventually get trees when the soil has been re nourished by the ground cover. The trees will provide shade and stop fresh water evaporation and also provide more organic material for mulch. Is important that the orignal system is maintained by education of the locals. If, when the scientists leave people begin over grazing, using trees for firewood etc, then the system will collapse. The goats need to be in pens.
Excellent project, I hope the GoE will copy the system to replicate it throughout the country sea shores.

I think that is the plan for long term as the video suggests.
