RNC chairman Michael Steele tells Chris Matthews that he defends calling President Obama's health care plan socialism at the National Press Club as evidenced by his, "Yes, next question" remark.

  • @DaveSquibbSr that is not to be found true for the most part but people continue to to push this belief. I don't like what Most of Obama is doing either but people don't care about issues until it affects them because they worry about status and having someone below them well this is about to hit in a big way and if you think it's because of Obama then you have been totally fooled-all of these guys are on the same team you just don't know it.

  • @concious2 stand in line and wait means like what happens in Canada you get an appointment and you get put on a waiting 3 month or more before you see a doctor, many people in countries with socialized medicine die waiting for an appointment, but they won't tell you that, i say hands off of health care!

  • It amazes me how they use terms like stand in line and wait your turn. What about go to the doctor sit down and wait just like what you do any way.

  • Woops accidentally pressed dislike while clicking play. Please don't post unfunny, lame jokes about that one guy who clicked dislike.

  • Capitalism is a good system, and I believe in it, but the American system is not working.

  • @zaurtrien

Do you have to take classes to be this stupid? Socialism "done well is far better than capitalism"???

    1) Where has socialism every worked?

    2) Capitalism is the best system ever enabled.

  • and what the fuck is wrong with socialism? done well, it is far better than capitalism

  • The more modern form of socialism ('state socialism') applied to health care, would mean establishing something like Britain's NHS, all hospitals would be government owned, and all health care workers would be paid directly by the government, from their general revenue. This bill doesn't do that either.

Quite simply, the health care bill is NOT socialist in nature.

I don't support the bill. Just tired of hearing people regurgitating talking points & calling it socialism when it's anything but.

  • Socialism (True socialism, or classical socialism) is about collective worker ownership of their means of subsistence, so in this case, that would mean turning all hospitals, health clinics, etc, over to the health care workers who work in them, and have them democratically managed from the bottom up. This bill, does not establish such a system.

  • The bill will force millions of new people to become customers of CAPITALIST insurance companies.

This is called "SOCIAL CAPITALISM" ...when the government actively tries to help, or sponsor the capitalist market, in this case, by legislating insurance companies new customers.

    This is NOT Socialism
