I believe it was Jesse Hibbs who FIRST said that ....THE SEARCHERS was the best western ever made. Mr Hibbs, in my opinion, was correct.

A lot of violinists found work in this picture.

@Ettoredipugnar I agree with you that she has been tainted. I just personally believe the film does show signs of bigotry in Ethan's character.

@supermario0527 Hes not racist . She has been tainted by having been raped and then having concentual sex with an indian . Ethan struggles with this she is kin , but she is also tainted ruined if you will. Like having a daughter marry a black man. Ethan is a comlicated man.

scorsese is a true genuis in many ways the idiot speilberg on the other hand couldnt tell you the difference between his ass and his face,to say that waynes character is racist is just plain stupid.people back then were fighting to survive,indians and settlers alike .they both did things that seem racist to us now,but i could no more sit in judgement and make a statement such as that than he can,spoken like a true liberal you no talent bum

@illestinthagame30 My what an intelligent response, but then I see by your channel that you aren't exactly the intellectual type in any respect.
@2koolbenny1eye
You are a retard. Scorsese and Spielberg make essentially the same exact point about the Ethan Edwards character, and the film does make it clear that the character is racist. Blatantly clear.

@2koolbenny1eye John Ford has stated that there was much racial tension between both Whites and Native Americans, but he does make clear that both Ethan Edwards, and the Comanche Chief Scar, are individually racist. In that sense, Spielberg is correct.
