More info at http://www.xketype.com . Rear springs on 60s/70s/80s Jags are a challenge to compress with standard spring compressors. Here's a neat method using the rear brake discs from the same jag...worth buying these brake discs just to do this!
Well - I did, after having seen this brilliant, no-nonsense video - the only thing in addition was to secure the damper flanges from slipping by setting (taped) bolts in all the brake discs holes.
The compressor shafts went through the two larger holes and was stabilized with big washers.
Very stable, safe and ..exciting!
WARNING: this operation must be safe - and is potentially dangerous! USE COMMON SENSE, PLEASE!!
Brilliant! I just used this method, it was easy and safe. Nothing I love more than a novel solution to an age-old problem!
