Um, is this a complete coincidence or is your license plate referencing the Cummins 6BT straight-6 turbodiesel and the 13B Mazda rotary engine? Because if that's the case that's pretty much the most awesome incidental vanity plate I've seen.
Buick Straight Eights have a very Tractor like low-end torque band and cannot tolerate RPMs. The power is in the stroke and bore not the RPMs. Way too many chevy and ford neanderthals out there. Pity
Were the conrod bearing shells or cast-in whitemetal? Whitemetal could extrude and open a clearance under supercharging like that. If you listen carefully you can hear noise in the last power up and a definite swing just before the rod lets go.
Rather a pity that the population of good extant examples has gone down by one more.
@rrivas001 Crankshaft whip: That's why the last mercedes straight 8 engines such the one that had the 300 SLR took the power form a gear located in the middle of the crankshaft instead of the end of it.

what happended at last? Was a thrown rod? a crankkshaft failure?
Anyway... when the first hard run was performed, some smoke started to emerge from the engine, indicating that something wasn't working properly.

I keep telling folks they don't make cars like they used to. Hard to find new cars like this stock these days. ;)
