  • what size and thread is the bolt?

  • @BeijingBuzzz The standard thread for the bolt that attaches a camera to a tripod is 1/4"-20tpi (threads per inch). This is a very common size thread for many things. You probably have a spare bolt laying around your house. Thanks for watching.

  • that's a great concept. I like that it's a nice slow motion. How smooth it it?

Only downside, what I'm looking for needs to be a bit faster. IE full 360 rotation in approx 30 - 40 seconds

  • @FAQUAD2010 Okay, then try this. Get a large clock with a second hand. Mount the camera to the second hand. That way 360 degree sweep equal 60 seconds.

    Thanks for watching.

  • Cool idea! It won't work for every solution (obviously :) ), but, for the price, it's definitely worth keeping on hand.

  • Thanks for watching. You're right, but for less that $5 you just can't go wrong. Build a rig a post your result here as a 'video reply'. Good luck!

  • nice!!

  • Thats awesome

  • Great idea...

  • ive been searching for slow panners all week. Been trying out stepper motors with Arduino. But this! Lol pure genius! im trying it!

  • @onefivefour

I have a design in mind I plan to build soon.

It's obviously more expensive than a dollar store timer, but should result in

really smooth motion, with adjustable speeds.

I'll film the build when I make it and post it as a reply vid to this when I make it.
