Nissan North America has unveiled a new ad campaign that asks "What if everything ran on gas?"

Created to promote their electric powered Leaf model, the commercial takes a humorous look at the advantages of electricity. More interestingly, Nissan takes a swipe at the Chevrolet Volt which is a range-extended electric vehicle that uses a petrol engine to extend its 25 to 50 mile (40 to 80 km) range on electricity alone.

Nissan will begin airing 15-second teasers later this week, before debuting the full commercial on June 12th during the NBA Finals in the U.S.

Its stupid to advertise against another EV when the goal of EVs is to promote energy and environmental savings. Having more EVs on the road helps that goal whether they are made by Nissan or Chevy.

because we are too dependent on them. electric car is just 1 step forward.

although all electric cars as of now and in the past are always way too expensive. to the point that you will most likely die of old age before returning those expenses via "economic driving".

I still have no idea though, if they are pricey because of actual costs or just overpriced because its "innovation".

The Leaf maybe 100% electric which is good for the economy. But I would still rather have the Chevy Volt. With the Leaf I could only get to work/store/mall and back home. With the Volt I could go on a road trip. After the electric engine goes out I'll have the gas engine as my back up.
