To think that my people took the culture from these boys; tried to cookie cutter them into being like us. I despise this,not allowing a being to speak his Native tongue. I Want to learn to speak Spanish so badly; so I can converse to my friends that work very difficult jobs My sons would not do for $20 Hr.** I have a construct of some kind that does not allow me to remember vocab; spelling of words but phonetically; so my friends speak broken English; they laugh + talk to me. I admire them. :((

@nappocasa Many probably thought that way. The whole education stuff was probably a good idea. Not that it really would have made many Europeans see Natives as equal but it would have given the Natives at least a better chance. However Pratt's probably good attempts seem to have been grounded in the believe that to be Indian means a bad thing. Had he allowed them to keep their identity many things would have been different,
