Is it not funny that the white man helps the wolves and the Inuit helps the tourist hunters find and kill their parents? Kinda breaks some racist steroptypes, eh?

hunters generally do more to conserve than urban tree huggers, but this movie makes them look like shit.

The book is powerful in it's truth. In the book, Mowat goes into the den expecting it to be empty & finds Angeline & a cub, then freaks out. He's glad he didn't have his gun or he might have done something rash. I hate how Disney movies always make men out to be the bad guys. The true story has a good enough message, this made up crap is where terms like bleeding heart liberals comes from. Lies to try and shove a false moral down someone's throat.

@commradevlad ...only hunters can do that ...clearly this movie is about wolves ...wolves that are great hunters ...yes ...yet so much more...

I loved the book when I first read it ...when I thought it was a real tale of a man of integrity
Farley Mowat is a great writer ...still a story is just a story
interesting how he rationalizes all about 'no' until ... "only silence" as he puts the bassoon to his lip making the deep resonating sound of human craftmanship pale in the shadow of nature's fullness
...the richness of Life's infinite vibrations

Thank goodness for Farley Mowat.

Saw this film when I was like 8 and it completely blew me away. Still does - I think it's one of Ballard's best films and one of the greatest to come out of the American Zoetrope crew.
