Paiste Alpha 17 Sensitive China

Here's a re-make of a short video clip I made for Nilbritto of the Paiste-Only Forum. He wanted to know what the Paiste Alpha 17" Sensitive China sounds like, and what it would be like amongst splashes and thin crashes. Bottom left to upper right: New version Alphas - 10" Thin Splash - 17" Sensitive China - 16" Thin Crash - 14" Thin Crash. Hats are old version Alpha 14" SE.

Recorded with a small pocket camera, hence the poor image quality and sound... but it gives a rough idea. Cheers!

im looking for at paiste ride that dont cost too much. Would alpha 20" ride be a good pick?

@Jakelikesxbox You can listen to the various Alpha Ride soundfiles at the Paiste web. Play your music in the background while tapping the soundfile and see if it fits. I've tried the 20" Ride which is great but I went for the 21" Groove Ride because of the pitch, even tho it's a bit one dimensional. The 20" ride is complex and has incredible stick bounce. The guys at the Paiste-Only Forum say the Alpha 22" Rock Ride is THE ride as far as Alphas are concerned, but I've not had a chance to try it.

@Dubconferencedotorg Unfortunately they don't sell this china anymore, the model has been discontinued. Do a search on ebay, they do come up every now and then...

@itsJoanfuckingJett. That's a damn good question... The two are very similar in quality and sound. I would have to agree that you need to sit down at your music store and play them both before you make a final decision... But i can tell you now, Its not going to be an easy choice. It's really gonna come right down to punch or resonance, the Alpha's have an awesome punchy attack, but the Z3's have a comparable attack with a very smooth decay and a little more resonance.

@alwayzsk8 The Alpha 17" Sensitive China has been discontinued early this year I believe. There was a couple of brand new ones that came up on eBay about a month ago, so I'd check them every now and then. Otherwise, she's now a rare one... unless Paiste decides to re-issue them.
