Getting ready to spin that 9/16 wrench, I just got some new tools. But .. how are the automatic slack adjusters adjusted? And if they are "automatically adjusted," why would one need to adjust them? Would the company let me adjust the mirrors instead? I had better call a real mechanic for that one.
The "Leak Down" video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkeTGY-kLHw shows the right way to keep the automatic slack adjusters in proper adjustment.

  • i wish to know what kind of slacks are better? if automatic or the other ones., if someone can help me plz. thanks

  • @emerson5478 : Automatic Slack Adjusters are universal today; perhaps on some old farm trucks one could find a manually adjusted slack adjuster. All the best.

  • He forgot to tell you about the unseen page in that book that read-Attention slack adjusters are no longer required, just cage all brakes and safely continue until johnny DOT jacks you up.

  • @kdraper2007 ROTFL.

  • @part380 Doing 2 steps brake adjust my slack adjuster?

  • @kdraper2007 I assume you also keep you rig well greased then. I drive a 98 Freightliner that was from up state NY and everything is rusted to shit on the axels and brake chambers. I also drive through mud up to my axels always getting mud caked on everything. I just keep everything cleaned and well greased it keeps the dirt pushed out and mine are tight and work fine.

  • what a waste of time thx

  • safety notes written by road service guy & DOT COP TO GENERATE REVENUE FOR BOTH.

  • Johnny T. was later force to use the runaway truck ramp on the south side of Monteagle because he was too lazy to maintain his brakes.
