Before we begin, I would like to thank the Lord Jesus Christ for my life, and all the gifts which I've been given in it, including the ability to make this extension. Your name be glorified, my Savior, even in something as small as this. Amen.

We're flyin' high in this fifth and final weekend edition of Amateur Extension Theater 2000! I'm your wanna-be ace of aces host, Alkahest.

Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War -- Oured City, December 31st, 2015. Dawn has just begun to creep over the horizon, bringing with it the sure promise of a bright, wonderful new year. Yet all is far from well in the Osean Federation; though the dreadful Osean-Yuktobanian War has come to an end, one final blow has been launched by the vile perpetrators who caused the conflict to erupt in the first place. Beginning its descent towards Oured is the SOLG, an orbital satellite-based weapon that could wipe Osea's capital -- as well as its populace -- clean from the face of the planet. Four daring aces are all that stands between Oured, and total annihilation. This is their only chance, their final flight... and surely their finest hour.

And cue the Latin singers! Composed by Keiki Kobayashi, 'The Unsung War' is a fitting end theme for the last mission of this excellent game. I prefer AC4's "Megalith", but this comes pretty close to rivaling it in terms of compositional structure and dramatic power; it must have been pretty popular, as a variation of this very theme reappeared in Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War as the aptly named final mission / insane boss fight tune, 'ZERO'. Tough to tell since here, it's a symphonic dream with a Latin chorus, while in Zero it's a fast-paced Flamenco styled melody... also with a Latin chorus. Perhaps even the same lyrics? Heh. This is a custom loop, by the way; probably more noticeable than it was with Megalith, but again, I felt it deserved an extended format like this.

Well, that wraps up another AET2k weekend update. Whew... are we really just twenty five extensions away from the big four double oh? That means it's almost time for my vacation, too. I suppose I'll see you all next week; same AET2k time, same AET2k silliness. Take care, and may God bless.

If it's an unsung war, then how come there's a Latin chorus singing right now? And what exactly does the Latin phrase "Rats Grits" translate from into English? .... Oh! Oh, I see! Razgriz, not... yeah. That makes sooooo much more sense.
