In what may well amount to political blackmail, a section of hard-line members of parliament are issuing threats of impeachment against national assembly speaker Kenneth Marende on the eve of his expected crucial ruling on the contentious judiciary nominations made by president Mwai Kibaki on Friday night. The international commission of jurists executive director George Kegoro has written to president kibaki and prime minister Raila Odinga, warning against the threats against the speaker by a section of MPs. As NTV's Pamela Asigi reports, it will be yet another crucial afternoon in parliament tomorrow as Marende once again takes a decision on behalf of the wrangling coalition and its squabbling principals.

@jakajwang I do think you are the one who is useless gauging from your arguments. The Speaker is simply doing his job. He is our hero; he has saved this country in more than one occasion from the jaws of hyenas. Kenya won't be a failed state so long as people like Muite, Mutula, Marende, Martha and Orengo exist. We are safe, we have left the mires for dry land.

The MPs who have been shouting loudest have not taken time to acquaint themselves with the law; the law gives no exception as to who should respect, uphold and defend it. It is our obligation as much as that of President in accordance to Article 3 (1) of the Constitution. The public have become wiser and nothing will peg them to the past; not even the threat of blackmail by the political blabbermouths. We owe our gratitude to level headed MPs like Imanyara and Mutula Kilonso.

These guys must be looking for anarchy. The KKK goons especially those around the hague bound, do not have the Legitimacy of subjecting Speaker Marende to a confidence vote who has always fought for the law. Pres Kibaki please take charge of your camp.
