Child abuse is a growing problem in NZ. You can help make a difference. Please watch this montage, read their stories and be the voice they didn't have.

Please also forward this link to Close up closeup@tvnz.co.nz and/or Campbell Live at this site here http://www.tv3.co.nz/Programmes/CampbellLive/ContactUs/tabid/241/Default.aspx with encouragement to screen the montage, that would be very much appreciated.

  • WTF its not a national problem it only happens in some parts of a society -mostly in the poor parts - the way to combat this it to have the death panelty hange th SOB who abuses children nt through ad campaigns but through the death Penalty .we hate child abusers yet they are getting away with it ad campaigns dnt fukin work the only way is to hang the bastards.

  • Hey odysseusexyz, thanks for your comment but I have to say you are naive. Child abuse happens in all parts of society, media plays a big part in maniupulating your view on it. The ad campaigns don't do jack for the abusers themselves but if they open the eyes of one next door neighbour of a child being abused then that's a job done. Have a good one.

  • Thanks for all these comments. Just want to add that when you watch this video, don't look at the colour of their skin, it isn't important. What's important is the message to us as kiwis, don't switch off your lights - whether you're maori, euro, indian or asian, whatever, this message is for you, ACT NOW, do something about it.

  • Are you referring to us as a people of our culture, our values & our faith, negligence & murderers? Word of advice!!! I suggest you read upon the Treaty of Waitangi, and submerge to the depth of your research. It's not your rightful place to judge & label ALL MAORI for all that occurs in this world. Our Cultural Values, faith, and practices we devote to, bearing in mind, in every district, we have our uniqueness about us, per province.

  • @ODYSSEUSEXYZ Many American states have retained the death penalty. Most of those states have the highest crime rates.

  • @lefteye4life hi girl. was interested in what people had to say about this issue and i came across your comment. I just want to say that you're very brave for telling your story and that i hope you don't live in fear of real love. keep your head up and your heart open and keep being strong. Coz kidz going thru what u have need inspirational people to look upto.

  • Maybe instead of blaming these tragedies on the divides in our country, we bridge the gap, focus on the root cause, break the cycle and start building a society that is safe and prosperous for ALL OUR KIDS!! Moe mai pepi. There has to be something better than what this life had to offer. R.I.P Angels!!

  • @MoralInvasion ...This is only a racial issue because we live in a racist society and it IS a national problem because these peaople are from our nation. This is one country not Maori NZ and Everyone Else NZ. Besides, if there were no maori in the equation it wouldn't stop child abuse... there'd just be more light ones instead of dark ones.

  • @MoralInvasion I am proud to be a maori native to Aotearoa and disgusted by whats happened to OUR kids. Yay! so you know how to read figures but do you understand the story and circumstances these families are in. Theres more to it than 'It's because they're Maori'. I've lived through that life and witnessed domestic violence firsthand and Myself and alot of other maori like me choose to live for our kids.

  • @criticee101 Since 1989 130 children have been murdered in NZ, 112 of them were of Maori descent, remember that Maoris represent slightly less than 15% of the population. I can tell you that the rest of NZ find's it ironic that Maoris should be seeking seperatism on all fronts except child abuse, where they are world leaders. [The highest rate rate of abuse related child head trauma and the second highest rate of child murder.] As a Maori I'd suggest you seperate your dirty laundry from our's.

  • @MoralInvasion typical racial ignorance. i hate to bust your bubble world where anything white is right but im maori and i dont abuse my kids. this is a national problem concerning every single human beings.

  • @darkcherryangelbaby why dont you start a thread on facebook for nz start with you and your family and friends and go from there

  • Child Abuse is an unheard voice. Out of the billions of people in this world and we can't stop something like this happening. We hardly hear about it. It needs to be everywhere, so it's in your face all the time. New Zealand, your justice system is pathetic!

  • death penalty for those who commit these terrible crimes to our children whos with me!!!???
