This goes out to my brothers and sisters in Gaza, who are under attack, and to my brothers and sisters here in my own country who are losing their jobs and losing their homes. It's all the same struggle, my friends. Woody knew it and Woody said it the best.
Woody got the tunes for a lot of his songs from traditional folk and gospel songs, and that gave them a lot of power and resonance. The tune for this song came from a well known gospel song called Farther Along. "Farther along, we'll know more about it. Farther along, we'll understand why." Well, we can hope, and I guess we can pray that we will....
