I saw this episode in full for the first time just the other day. God damn, some fine acting. Even simple moments like from 5:01 to 5:06 - the look Picard gives... the realisation (at that point) he may not see Crusher again. The look of strain in Crusher from 7:52 onwards. And the poignant ending with the candles.

Powerful stuff. Mighty fine acting.

The second book after "Death in Winter", is "Resistance", where they are together! They are great books! You should read!
