Each mech has a special mode which is unlocked after playing through with that mech from the beginning. Essentially, you have to pick Laguiole as your starting mech, and in one of the later missions you'll unlock the powered up mode.

It's been far too long since I played the game, but I think the mission was "Valhalla rising" or something. I believe it's the same mission where you would unlock Vavel's or Gllang's super modes.

2:41 the voice actor for the news broadcaster sounds like she's "trying" to act.I think they got the same voice actor from the Japanese version and put her in the english version.That would explain A LOT!
