Visual Phonics is a routine chant that can be used to teach children as young as 4 to associate the sounds with the letters that make them. It can also be used with children who are struggling to produce sounds correctly or have articualtion delays as many of the hand movements mimic how the mouth moves to produce the sound.

My daughter has audio memory trouble, and teaching her to read has been VERY difficult. But just using the signs for the i, u, and e sounds has helped TREMENDOUSLY. I wish I had stumbled across this sooner. Can you help me with the second sound of 'th' as in THAT. Is there a sign for that? Thank you so much for this video. Reading with her today, made me smile, and eased her frustration!

You can go to my website speechtherapywithanniehoppe.co.nr under the visual phonics tab to find more resources. I added the loud /th/ sound but not to the video. I have found that this chant helps young readers and children with speech delays learn to read and say sounds sounds since the hand signals mimic the way the mouth moves. There are signs for the dipthong vowels and /r/ controlled vowels. I'm glad that others are able to find good use for it too! Check back soon, I'll update....

Hi, do you know where I could get the signs that you have?
