@dumuh Well, some involvement from the Brits, but pretty much American. I know they used the Merlin, but the P-51's engine was built and modified in the US. It was one of the last prop plane build during the war, so naturally, it was the best performing. Not a pretty plane, it was a muscular and extremely effective.
In my opinion, the ME 262 beats them all.
