These commercials aired on Chico CBS affiliate KHSL on October 15th, 1988.

1. CBS Saturday Rocks Bumper
2. Radio Shack RC Cars (I think we had that exact RC 4x4 truck)
3. Frosted Flakes
4. Smooshees (I've posted this one before, but I had to include it for the insane girl at 1:23)
5. CBS Saturday Rocks
6. CBS Saturday Rocks Bumpers
7. Sunkist Fun Fruits Spooky Fruit and Space Shapes (Ironic that the only thing truly scary in this commercial is the supposedly friendly laughing tree)
8. Play-Doh Burger King Whopper Playset (I'm pretty sure I had this. Even the little placemat looks really familiar)
9. CBS Saturday Rocks Bumper
10. CBS Station ID
11. Real Animal Heroes (OK, I really want to know the story behind the picture at 3:14)
12. KHSL News Bumper
13. CBS Saturday Rocks Bumper
14. California Dream Barbie
15. Croonchy Stars (I never knew there was a Swedish Chef themed cereal! Totally amazing!)
16. CBS Saturday Rocks Bumpers
17. Fashion Star Fillies (Quite possibly the lamest girl toys I've ever seen, and that's saying something)
18. Honey Smacks (Golden Crisp owns Honey Smacks, yo!)
19. Tang (With Will Vinton claymation! And free mouth stickers OMG!)
20. Saturday Rocks
21. CBS Saturday Rocks Bumpers
22. Cap'n Crunch (With a free dinosaur spoon! Amazing)
23. Smooshees (Seems like "smooshing" these would get old very fast)
24. CBS Saturday Rocks Bumpers
25. Instant Quaker Oatmeal (Snifferrific?)
26. CBS Saturday Rocks Bumper
27. CBS Station ID
28. Sherwood Forest Toys & Hobbies (Incredible)
29. KHSL News Bumper

  • Royal Courtain is now doing sports for KRCR 7 (ABC).

  • That's a very "Anchorman" esque name. Reminds me of Ron Burgundy or Wes Mantooth.

  • Quality volume.

  • I love that control room, the memories it brings back.

What I'd give to go back to one saturday in the 80's. It was so quiet back then, you only had basic tv and maybe cable. You weren't over stimulated and bombarded with tv and media.

  • RIP to Ernest. Know what I mean, Vern?

  • How come there are Quaker Oats, but there isn't "Shinto Oats" or "Celtic Pagan Oats"? There is nothing offensive about the "Sherwood Forest Toys & Hobbies" commercial, but if aired today, someone would probably find a reason to be offended by it.

  • Wow

  • Pink and Purple horse + "lacy garter" = Insanity

  • I loved Spooky Fruit!

  • Fashion star fillies HA HA HA HA HA I probably wanted those!

  • are some of these products i have seen on your vids still around? besides the obviouse ones like lucky charms, frosted flakes and others?

  • @orion5175 google maps/street view shows a place called "Campus Bicycles" there now.

  • I like how the Frosted Flakes ad set the table like they were at home in a kitchen, instead of camping out somewhere. In 6 years of Boy Scout campouts, we never had a fruit basket or glass juice glasses with us.

The not-so-subtle message--Hey kids, once you finish making your fake burgers, go to Burger King for real burgers!

That horse fashion doll probably came about when someone said "Girls like fashion dolls and horses! Let's combine them!" Probably made more money than I ever will.

  • croonchy stars was good as hell. especially in a big bowl of cold milk. good stuff.
