Hey Chris, just curious, do you have any affiliation with the Rise Up Australia Party? Although I thought this clip was brilliant, I find the Daniel Nalliah’s party and his policies to be wankery bs, so I'm assuming that you don't....

What's interesting is you and many people watching this video are probably behind a progressive tax rate, social safety nets, and all the other liberal and or progressive things that comprise so many 1st world countries today. Yet, from your own definition and explanation of fairness, which is usually the first cited argument for these things, the fairness argument fails to hold water. So which is it? Is fairness is a sufficient argument for public policy or not?

I can't speak for others but I'm personally opposed to income tax as a concept. So far as I can tell there is no justification for a government extracting money from people purely on the basis that they actually decided to do some work today, whilst using those taxes to pay people who didn't. And I absolutely agree that the fairness argument fails to hold water.

Thanks for the comment. In reality the distinction between 'media' and 'people' is arbitrary. I am not employed by a 'media' company but in every other respect my documentaries fall within most peoples definition of media... so should I be restricted or not? What if someone builds up a following on Youtube or wherever and then is able to generate an income from it? Does the INCOME make them media? If you accept restrictions on 'media', you restrict people.

@blenderpanzy power & gas were always meant to be provided by the government to the people without profit. We got screwed. Hospitals were being funded by the proceeds of the state owned lottery. Again we got screwed. Every police officer makes an oath to protect the queen and government, not to protect you or me, if a 'law' is passed to shoot anyone found in public with a knife, the police would be bound by their oath to follow through, that would include all fishermen, most farmers, all campers

Same way we financed them for a hundred years before we had an income tax.

There are, of course, very good cases for the reasonable limitation of free speech. The classic example is yelling fire in a crowd. There is almost no place where this is legal and for a good reason. Yelling fire in a crowd can lead to mass panic and the deaths of people. There is also, intentionally cause a riot. It is one things to say "gays are evil", it is entirely different that say "Gays are evil and we should go beat them all to death" to a crowd of hateful people.

Lol, I find it odd that a video defending freedom of speech would withhold comments pending censorship.

Without income tax, how would you finance hospitals, streets, teh police force, the fire departement, the public healthcare system, schools, univercities, courts, and erverything for which we have states? Or are you against states and think everyone should be on their own and no one should keep big companies and criminals in check and we don't need to be protected from fires and illness?

Tasmania's Michelle O'Byrne wants to fine nurses and doctors and 'counsellors' (no qualification needed) $65000 or spend a year in jail for refusing to recommend an abortionist to a pregnant woman. Sort of 'Opposite' to stopping free speech. It is enforcing specific speech. A step up !! Oh, and the same fines/jail for taking a snap in a street within 300 mtrs of a secret abortion clinic. She is a feminist-socialist, of course.
