Here is "The Don" - a Peter Angus loco modeled on the loco built by the Balmforth Bros in 1898. I bought it on Ebay and the first part of this video was the first run at Roy Woods Holt Wood Light Railway. No Chuffers were used in the making of this video! The story is in Garden Rail magazine No 181.

  • Thanks Jamie - and yes I should be at one of the open days - it sounds like we should have some interesting visiting locos. Hope to see you there!

    Cheers

  • looks like a good, smoth runner. Spirit fired?

  • It is a very smooth runner - it has a twin cylinder oscillating motor under the water tank - geared down to the final drive. The outside cylinders are dummy. The boiler is gas fired with a round ceramic burner - it is as quiet as spirit fired though!

  • is that scratch built? It reminds me of the Winans Crab 0-4-0T

  • Hi - Yes it was scratch built by Peter Angus in 1998 using a Tony Sant boiler. Since then he has built two more - though the boiler and detailing are different.

    Cheers

    Chris
