haha funny..people say they can never get a subaru stuck....I am a huge subie fan and have owned 2 so far, but you CAN get one stuck...if it's a front wheel drive legacy haha

@fxgtz You are correct. 2nd is a much better gear to start in. Just think about when you are on your bicycle. Are you more likely to spin your wheel in a low gear or a high gear? Of course a lower gear.

@fxgtz Auto subarus commonly have a Hold feature which locks them in 2nd gear and does not allow the car to roll back. This is designed for driving on ice so as to avoid to much acceleration and losing what little grip you have.

i think someone told me that you out it into 2 (auto gear box), and the subaru will start in second gear which i think makes it easier to get out of ice. i would have though 1 would have been better?

Longinus27 is right. Subarus never need chains those people don't know anything about driving. That or they just want to prove the point that not even an idiot cout get a Subaru stuck.
