fact is: more people are killed by black bears than any other species of bear. Why? Maybe because black bear encounter more people that any other species. People that: A) camp where careless campers have before and food odors aboud . B) where bear get conditioned to believe behavior results in food (people fault again) and c) anti-gun people don't have a weapon handy to protect themselves then run their stupid mouth about other wiser people who bring a gun to protect loved ones/not cops.

@thoumaturgica We just had one in our site in NH and a couple of weeks back a child was killed in Western NH. Very sad.

That story was made up. There was no fatal bear attack, at least not in the Adirondacks and not by a black bear. Black bears are pretty docile, at least in the Adirondack Park.

Most bears & animals have an inate fear of man. "A fed bear is a dead bear" the saying says. Obviously, this bear, as cute as he is, has lost his natural fear of man. That makes him dangerous. (Notice the nervousness in the voices.) Carelessness and bear's disposition make this possible. Just take the proper precautions and make sure you're armed. Human predators are the greatest threat. The media doesn't like to report stories like the boy's death because it doesn't serve liberal agenda.
an 11 yr. old boy was killed up there last year by one that came into his tent and dragged him 400 yards.

@thoumaturgica Wow, I hadn't heard that. Do you know more about the circumstances? Lots of food in the tent?
