There were some unexpected guests at the August monthly meet. Traffic Officers from Winchester dropped in after they noticed an unique vehicle in the car park and wanted a closer look.
Malcolm Bailey, Webmaster for 1009, had collected his new car the day before the meeting. After a busy day, finishing off the paperwork and making a stop at the garage to get a slight fault fixed, it was time to unveil his new toy to the rest of the Southampton & New Forest MG Owners Club.
Having owned a standard factory MGB GT V8 in the past it wasn't going to be long before Malcolm wanted another. It would have to be something special though and he hasn't let us down.
Malcolm's latest acquisition is a 1973 MGB GT V8 in Police white and, thanks to one of it's previous owners, complete with a collection of period equipment in the back. It even still has the original roof lights and two-tone horn installed.
Malcolm and "Bill", his pet name for the first V8 to be demonstrated to Police forces in the UK, will now be seen at a variety of classic car events in and around the area.
Among the first will be the Athelhampton gathering and Classic Cars on the Prom on Sunday (09/08/09).
