I'm using an Inspiron 1000 laptop, a Lilliput 7" monitor, a customized version of Media Engine carputer software, and a SpaceNavigator as a carputer in my Acura TSX. So far the project is coming along well, and with the exception of a few minor issues, is now pretty much complete! You can check out the entire build process at Acurazine.com or TSXClub.com in the Audio sections. Enjoy!

  • Wow, my neck would hurt from such a low location. :(

  • I don't watch the screen while I'm driving, obviously. It's just to pick music. There's really no where else to put it in a TSX.

  • Wow, this is terrific. Have you played with Google Earth? Is it possible to track the location of the car in GE? You could then fly above your location in a 3D model of the real world. Great Stuff!

  • I'm pretty sure that wouldn't work. Google Earth requires an internet connection... I guess maybe if you had some kind of city wide wifi, or a cellular internet card you could do it. I'm not sure if GE is compatible with USB GPS devices - I haven't really looked in to it. Mainly the device is just for music.

  • I have a Honda Accord Euro 2.4 executive (rebadged Acura TSX) with Honda's sat-nav system that is integrated with the climate control and Radio/CD player. How do you get around the factory system's control of these systems with your custom solution?
