the main problem, and many people are actively working so it remains intact, is that any kind of rational discussion about the nature of the problems and their reasonable solutions is just made impossible
no problem, of any kind, can be addressed without the ability to discuss it in a reasonable way...
But let anyone try to discuss Islamic bombers, Islamic terrorists, human rights record in Islamic countries, Islamic slave trade, Islamic colonialism, Islamic Jihad, or anything else negative that is Islamic, and all this other stuff just barges in.
Thus we lose focus. We cannot name the problem properly; so we cannot addresses it; so we cannot handle it. We are left speechless and actionless. Which is just what the enemy wants.

One doesn’t need to be a Christian to be offended and angry about this. One just needs to be a human being.

When we discuss Western slave trade, we don't bring in Islamic slave trade (although sometimes we should).
When we discuss Western colonialism, we don't bring in Islamic colonialism (although sometimes we should).
Even when we talk about Crusades, we don't bring in Islamic Jihad that preceded and followed Crusades. Although in this case we definitely should.

It's not just Christians who are offended by this endless reference to others whenever anything negative Islamic is discussed.
When we talk about bombers of abortion clinics, we don't bring in Islamic bombers.
When we discuss Timothy McVeigh, we don't bring in Islamic terrorists.
When we discuss North Korea's human rights record, we don't bring in human rights record in Islamic countries.
